A lot of us feel the urge to find out what certain classmates might be doing and if or not they grew up to be what they wanted. Many of us really take high school and the high school alumni for granted until we finally graduate and start living our busy daily lives in college and then at work. Nowadays many high schools have an alumni section on their official website and this is probably the best place to start when looking for high school buddies. Usually the alumni is part of a large database that can span decades making it easy for people to find their ex classmates. Some high schools may also charge you a small fee or a membership fee prior to joining. This is perfectly fine if you are serious about finding your classmates.

Now if the high school alumni is not the answer to your question then you can use many of the online services that allow you to search for friends and family members. Some of these services are free but the majority are paid services with only the first few results or a few details being free after which you need to pay. For instance a name will popup but a phone number will only be shown if you pay a certain fee. You can also use a person’s birthday and other information to try and narrow down your search if you are faced by many people of the same name. If you know where they previously worked you can also use that information to your advantage as well.

Another good way of finding high school alumni is to search social networking services such as facebook, linkedin and myspace. Amazingly social networking sites are free and once you find who you are looking for getting in touch with the other side is free as well. However the biggest problem with many social networking sites is that you can’t really trust the profiles. There are many fake profiles and many people often open accounts using fictitious names for privacy reasons. Still it is very well worth a shot since it does not cost you any money.

Sometimes just entering in a person’s full name in a major search engine like Google with quotes can bring up the person’s picture, name and even their email address. However rare this is only possible if the person has managed to make a name for him or herself online by writing articles and starting various websites.

There is no one right or wrong way to find high school alumni online. However the best and most effective way is to use a paid service because then you get all the information you need to contact the person. You also waste less time surfing cyberspace searching for a long lost school buddy.
